Bodybuilding vs. CrossFit: Which Builds More Muscle?
When it comes to muscle building, bodybuilding often takes the lead over CrossFit.
This is due to its focused hypertrophy training.
Bodybuilding programs are tailored to isolating and progressively overloading specific muscle groups, which is ideal for maximizing growth. (Schoenfeld, 2010).
CrossFit, while excellent for overall fitness and functional strength, focuses on high-intensity exercises that don’t consistently target individual muscles for hypertrophy (Glassman, 2004).
Studies indicate that structured resistance training with adequate rest is key for muscle growth (Grgic et al., 2018).
While both methods offer benefits, bodybuilding’s tailored approach makes it superior for those aiming to put on maximum muscle.
Bottom line: If you want to build muscle efficiently and effectively, go the strength training/bodybuilding route!
