Is Muscle Memory just an illusion?

If you were to take some time off training – would that put you back to where you first started?

The good news is, no. You can actually rebuild the muscle that you have lost quicker than you can build muscle as a beginner.

According to Japanese researchers, they took two groups of 14 young adult men and divided them into two groups.

One group is labeled as CTR (Continuous Training Resistance) and the other group is PTR (Periodic Training Resistance).

Both groups trained with high intensity doing 75% of their max weight for 3 sets of 10, 3 days a week.

The results are surprising. The PTR group ended up seeing better results than the CTR group.

Bottom line: Taking rest in your training will NOT kill your gains. It is important to allow your body time to rest so you can come back with the same high intensity. Listen to your body!
