Will Taking a Week Off Kill Your Gains?
Life can get overwhelmingly busy sometimes and is difficult to find time to train. So the question stands – does taking a week off kill your gains?
Let’s see what science says about it…
A recent study took experience lifters and had them take a one-week break in the middle of a 9-week program.
The results no difference in muscle growth, power, endurance, or body composition compared to those who trained straight through the 9-week prgoram.
It is no doubt much easier to maintain the muscle mass that you have built then to build added on muscle tissue from scratch.
In summary, don’t stress if you haven’t trained in a week. Just be sure you are eating enough protein (0.8-1.2g per lb) in order to maintain and preserve muscle tissue.
